The Stanford Center for European Studies promotes the research and study of European cultures, histories, and structures. It serves as an umbrella organization for scholars in the Humanities and Social Sciences whose research focuses on Europe, crosswise spatially between Russia and the Iberian Penninsula, Scandinavia and the Mediterranean, and chronologically between Late Antiquity and the Twentieth Century.
