About the Center for African Studies

Located in Room 210 Encina Hall West, the Center for African Studies (CAS) is an exciting resource for Stanford students, faculty and staff. CAS coordinates with UC Berkeley to form the joint Stanford/Berkeley joint center for African Studies. Individuals interested in Africa and African Studies at any level - academic, social, or personal - are encouraged to become involved with the Center.

The easiest way to learn about upcoming events is to join the African Studies mailing list. In addition to offering courses and fellowship opportunities, the Center organizes Africa Table each Wednesday at noon during the academic year. This lecture series provides a forum in which guest speakers, Stanford faculty and students, and local community members discuss issues and events affecting Africa and its people.
